Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary Kathryn Insley’s Visit to Georgian Joint Maritime Operations Center

Today, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary Kathryn Insley from the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation visited Georgia’s Joint Maritime Operations Center (JMOC) and met with JMOC Director, Commander Shota Mirotadze. JMOC is an interagency operations center that coordinates and shares information internally as well as with its international partners to proactively protect Georgia’s maritime space and help identify and intercept vessels suspected of illegal activities.   The U.S. government is proud to have helped establish the JMOC and continues to assist the center in its development through training, exercises, and equipment, for improved Maritime Domain Awareness and interoperability with regional Black Sea partners.
