Ambassador Degnan and First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Tamar Makharashvili present Georgia’s 2022 National Teacher Award to Roland Shavadze.Education is one of the pillars of U.S. engagement in Georgia: from youth learning English at our 25 classrooms across the country to Fulbright researchers bringing their newly honed skills back to help Georgia develop.

Each year, the National Teacher Award recognizes Georgia’s best teacher–this year the ceremony coincides with World Teachers’ Day. On this day, the U.S. Embassy wishes to thank all of Georgia’s teachers for their dedication to preparing the next generation for the country’s future success!

For 30 years the U.S. government has supported the Georgian education system and Georgians pursuing their education dreams from primary school all the way to postgraduate exchange opportunities in the United States.
