In honor of International Women’s Day, the Ambassador hosted several of Georgia’s top female law enforcement and justice sector officials to recognize their important contributions to ensuring peace, security, and public safety in Georgia. A police officer is often the primary representative of the state with whom citizens interact and it is paramount that law enforcement organizations accurately reflect the gender composition of the community and that all are given equal opportunity for advancement. The U.S. Embassy supports women’s empowerment because we know from experience that countries only progress economically, socially, and politically when women participate fully in all aspects of society. Increased participation and inclusion of women is helping create a more stable, integrated, and healthy society in Georgia.
