Today, Ambassador Degnan made her first trip to the Administrative Boundary Line, near Odzisi. In comments to the media during the visit, the Ambassador denounced recent borderization activities, “especially in the time of COVID when we need to be working together to save lives.” She expressed concern about the spread of disinformation surrounding the pandemic, particularly regarding the life-saving work of the Lugar Center and the NCDC. She reiterated the United States’ strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and demanded Russia withdraw its occupation forces and fulfill its 2008 commitments.
