A truly independent, transparent, and accountable judiciary is the foundation of every healthy democracy and the U.S. Embassy continues to work closely with Georgians on strengthening its judiciary. Today, Ambassador Kelly C. Degnan met with representatives of the USAID-supported Coalition for an Independent and Transparent Judiciary, comprised of civil society organizations that play an important role in promoting reform. There is more work to be done to ensure the right of every Georgian to equal access to justice. The U.S. government is proud to be working with this organization and many others to continue the reform process. “We strongly encourage the next Parliament to make judicial reform an early priority and continue the important steps taken by Georgia to date,” said Ambassador Degnan.
