Today, Ambassador Kelly C. Degnan congratulates the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MOIA) on achieving internationally recognized accreditation of their Fingerprint, Facial Recognition, and Questioned Documents/Handwriting examination sections during her visit to the MOIA Crime Laboratory.
The U.S. Embassy has supported the development of criminal forensics in Georgia for almost two decades. Our International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau (INL) began its support for the MOIA laboratory eleven years ago by conducting a needs assessment, training, and the supplying of needed equipment.
We are encouraged by the progress reflected in today’s event, and we look forward to continuing our support for MOIA. We look forward to seeing this Laboratory achieve full accreditation, to be able to support the investigation of all crimes.
