Georgia’s Joint Maritime Operations Center (JMOC) plays a critical role in Black Sea security and the integrity of Georgia’s maritime borders. Last week, Ambassador Degnan met Deputy Head of Border Police, Gocha Janjghava, and JMOC Director, Commander Shota Mirotadze to reiterate the United States’ commitment to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.  JMOC is an interagency operations center that coordinates and shares information internally as well as with its international partners to proactively protect Georgia’s maritime space and help uncover vessels suspected of illegal activities.

The U.S. Embassy is proud to have helped establish the JMOC and continues to assist the center in its development through training, exercises, and equipment for improved Maritime Domain Awareness and interoperability with regional Black Sea partners.
