Ambassador Dunnigan delivered opening remarks at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS) graduation ceremony for the 2022-2023 cohort, as well as participating in the welcome reception for incoming National Security and Public Policy students. The U.S. Embassy supports this nine-month program, which teaches Georgian mid-career professionals about contemporary approaches to national security, international relations, economics, and public policy. The goal of the program is to enhance decision-making and discourse on critical issues.
The event welcomed 28 new students for the 2023–2024 academic year and recognized the 30 public servants who successfully finished the 2022–2023 program. Since 2001, more than 450 persons have completed the program and of these, over 70% have stayed in public service and achieved significant positions.
