Ambassador Kelly Congratulates Fulbright Scholarship Winners (July 14)
On Monday, July 17, U.S. Ambassador Ian Kelly and Irakli Gilauri, CEO of BGEO Group, will attend a reception hosted by the Bank of Georgia to congratulate eight Georgian students awarded Fulbright Graduate Student Program scholarships. These students will travel to the U.S. this fall to pursue their studies at leading American universities. The reception will also feature Fulbright scholarship alumni who will share their American experiences with the newcomers.
The Fulbright Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships offered by the U.S. Government globally. Since it began in Georgia in 2014, the program has sent 19 students to the U.S. The Fulbright Program is sponsored globally by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and co-sponsored by the BGEO Group in Georgia.
During former Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Georgia in July 2016, he signed a historic memorandum of understanding with the Government of Georgia which effectively doubled the size of the Fulbright Graduate Student program beginning in 2018.
The reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Bank of Georgia headquarters (29a Gagarini Street, enter from the riverside).
