Ambassador Degnan: “I had an excellent meeting with the Minister. We are here to formally launch USAID’s $7 million program, called Basic Education, that complements the excellent work the Minister has been doing under the “new school model” reforms that he has instituted. We hope that these two programs are going to work well together to further strengthen Georgia’s educational programs, reaching primary school students with student-centered learning, that includes training for teachers, developing new materials, and building on the good work by the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Peace Corps, and our own Embassy programs that teach English language and hold exchanges for students. So we’re very excited to continue our work with the Minister and the Ministry of Education.”
