Q-n about the event
Ambassador Kelly Degnan: I had a very interesting and useful briefing by the command here. The colonel reviewed the different missions that the western operational command plays, the vital role the western operational command plays in defending this part of Georgia, the very important role his men and women played in the preparations to defend against Covid-19. Over six weeks, this unit was out in the streets protecting the Georgian people, helping to do inspections, and really playing a central role in Georgia’s response to this unprecedented emergency. It’s very encouraging to hear the level of cooperation and participation that we have between the United States and Georgia out here working on training, working on equipping, working on structural issues. It’s a very tight partnership and a big part of why Georgia and the United States stand together in so many parts of the world, including Afghanistan.
