Ambassador Kelly Visits American Bookmobile in IDP Settlement (March 7)

IMG_9746_001On March 7, Ambassador Kelly visited the U.S. Embassy’s Bookmobile, a unique traveling bus that brings American culture and English education resources to Tserovani, Galavani, Tsilkani and Prezeti communities of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Georgia.  Ambassador Kelly enjoyed a warm-hearted discussion with the Bookmobile’s young users, talking about growing up in Chicago, his love of sports, and insights on becoming a diplomat.  IIMG_9842n addition to the Bookmobile, the U.S. government supports nine American Corners in Georgia, all of which promote understanding and deepen people-to-people ties between Americans and Georgians by offering a wide range of resources, such as books, videos, Internet access, special interest clubs, and speaking events.  These resources encourage visitors of all ages not only to learn about America, but also to learn new skills beneficial to their education, professional development, and Georgia’s successful future.
