Ambassador Kelly’s Remarks at the Opening of Rehabilitation Center in Mtskheta

Question about the event

Ambassador Kelly:

I was invited here by the city of Mtskheta. I particularly wanted to participate in this event because this year we are celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations between Georgia and the United States. This project was supported by private American citizens – LDS charities. We would like to see more of these people, more volunteerism like this, to benefit the future generation. That is the main reason I came here and it has been delightful.

Question about the terrorist attack in London

Ambassador Kelly:

Awful attack. Our thoughts and prayers go to the people of Britain, especially to those who lost loved ones in this terrible attack and we wish speedy recovery to those who are injured. It just points out again the need for international cooperation in fighting the scourge of terrorism, and the US and Georgia of course stand side by side in dealing with this terrible, terrible challenge that we all have – fighting against terrorists.
