On March 6 Ambassador Richard Norland joined the Minister of Refugees and Accommodation Sozar Subari and the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure David Shavliashvili to inaugurate a former hospital building that will now be housing for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).  Over one hundred families will live in these newly renovated apartments.  The apartment building was renovated by the USAID-funded Municipal Infrastructure and IDP Housing Rehabilitation Project, and implemented by the Municipal Development Fund.  This project was made possible through nearly $60 million in support from the U.S. government over the past four years and is part of the U.S. Government’s $1 billion pledge to assist the people of Georgia following the 2008 conflict.
