Ambassador Norland Participates in the Launch of the University Partnership Program in Public Policy (March 10)

On March 10, Ambassador Richard Norland participated in the official kick-off of the U.S. Embassy sponsored three-year university research program for young Georgian academics, implemented by Free University of Tbilisi and Agricultural University of Georgia in partnership with the University of North Texas.

The University Research Program entitled “Making an Impact on Policy Analysis in Georgia: Improving Research, Education and Engagement” provides scholars from different Georgian Universities the opportunity to improve their skills in research in public policy, and actively joins universities together with civil society and government representatives in formulating policy.

Through this project, the U.S. government seeks to help break down the divide between academia and civil society and encourage Georgian academics to become active participants in the development of Georgia’s democracy and economy.
