Time will not erase our memories of 9/11. 19 years later, we are still stronger together. Today we remember and mourn all those killed or left permanently injured in the terrorist attacks on that fateful day. We honor the courage and selflessness of all the brave men and women, firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and citizens who selflessly volunteered in those first moments to help save lives. Over the past two decades, the fight against global terrorism has brought Americans and Georgians much closer; so too has our shared sacrifice. We deeply value Georgia’s contributions to the mission in Afghanistan and more broadly, to global security. The United States honors those Georgians lost in the fight against terrorism, just as we honor the Americans we lost on 9/11 and in the years since.
