Assistant Secretary of Commerce Arun Venkataraman's Visit to Georgia: Strengthening U.S.-Georgia Economic Ties

On April 6th, Arun Venkataraman, the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, wrapped up his visit to Georgia, during which he met Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili to discuss key U.S. economic goals related to energy, logistics/transport, and the business climate; engaged with SABIT alumni, and headlined the U.S. Investors SelectUSA Pitch Competition, whose winner will pitch their idea in the United States. He also spoke at a dinner with the American Chamber of Commerce Board to discuss the economic and investment climate in Georgia and elaborate on how the U.S. can provide additional support to U.S. companies. He concluded his visit by touring the Sadakhlo Border Crossing and met with the Georgian Revenue Service and Customs Department to discuss key U.S. commercial and export control goals with the Head of Customs Control and promote the use of U.S. security scanner technology.
