Joint Statement by the U.S. Embassy and the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia on the extradition of Boris Malayev (September 12)

Pursuant to our strong law enforcement partnership, the U.S. Embassy and the Prosecution Service of Georgia have secured the extradition of Boris Malayev to the United States.  Malayev, a citizen of Uzbekistan and Israel, has been wanted on child sex offenses in New York since 2012 and was arrested in Georgia in December 2016.  He has been extradited to the United States, where he will stand trial.  Both the United States and Georgia are committed to upholding the rule of law, and this arrest is another example of the strong cooperation between our countries in combatting crime.
