CDA Elizabeth Rood’s Remarks at Stratcom Launch Ceremony (October 22)

Q-n about the event

CDA, Elizabeth Rood: Georgia has made its decision for integration with Western institutions—the European Union and NATO—and this is a choice that the United States fully supports.  There are many benefits for Georgia now for these decisions; for example, Georgians already enjoy benefits economically from a deep and comprehensive free trade agreement with the European Union and already enjoy visa-free travel to the European Union’s Schengen countries.  At the same time, Georgia’s close cooperation with NATO in security operations in NATO exercises and increasing its interoperability with NATO’s armed forces make Georgia stronger and more secure.  But not everyone in Georgia fully understands these benefits, especially in Georgia’s regions where people are exposed to disinformation, and so this grant that we are announcing today with the NATO Information Center is going to help inform Georgians all across the regions better about the benefits of Georgia’s Western path.
