CDA Elizabeth Rood’s Remarks to Media at Independence Day Celebration Organized by American Friendship Club (July 4)

Q-n about the event

Charge d’Affairs, Elizabeth Rood: it is a great pleasure to join with Friends of the United States’ in Georgia to celebrate the 243rd anniversary of America’s independence. July 4th is a very important date to Americans because it’s the date that our Declaration of Independence was signed. It was the beginning of the United States’ history as an independent nation, and so, this day also reminds us of the many things that we have in common with Georgia: love for liberty, love for independence,  love for our sovereignty, and these are the values that make the relationship between the United States and our Georgian friends so strong.

Q-n about the June 20th events

Charge d’Affairs, Elizabeth Rood:  It is very important for the events of the 20th of June to be investigated in a fair and balanced way, and the Public Defender can play a very important role in this.
