CDA Elizabeth Rood’s Comments to Media after the Third Round of Talks between the Ruling Party and Opposition (December 15)
Q-n about the CDA’s impression of the talks as “the opposition claimed they were more constructive than the ruling party did.”
CDA Rood: The third round of dialogue again took place in a constructive atmosphere. I would say that everyone agreed that it would be good to change the electoral system in Georgia as a step forward in a democracy. As expected, as planned, we talked about the notion of changing the way the majoritarian seats of parliament are filled through the multi-mandate majoritarian district model. We did not reach the agreement on that today, but we left the door open for the facilitators to continue consultations on this and other issues with the possibility of meeting again before we have the holiday period.
