On December 22, 2015, the U.S. Embassy’s Charge d’affaires Nicholas Berliner visited the Peace Corps office in Tbilisi. During his visit, he met with Stephen Smith, the new Peace Corps Country Director in Georgia. The Peace Corps Country Director introduced the Charge d’affaires to Peace Corps staff and Peace Corps volunteers, and spoke about the positive cooperation between the Peace Corps and the Georgian people. Currently there are 108 Peace Corps volunteers serving in Georgia, in ten regions of the country, serving in the fields of English Education and Individual and Organizational Development. U.S. Peace Corps volunteers have been serving in Georgia since 2001.
