Ambassador Kelly Meets with Children and Volunteers at the Weekend School in Mestia (October 16)

On October 16, Ambassador Kelly visited with the children of the Weekend School in Mestia and met with representatives of the NGO Together for Real Changes (TRC).  TRC is a Disabled Persons Organization (DPO) and peer-to-peer model created to bring services to people with disabilities and their families in the rural and mountainous areas of Georgia.   TRC operates on a Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) model, which brings services to the community by training parents and community-based personnel to help people with disabilities become more independent through focused exercises and therapeutic strategies.  The school, a community-driven resource center that operates with the assistance of local para-professionals and youth volunteers, provides resources to children with disabilities to help them reach their potential.
