Colonel Bagley speaks at the Women in the Military Field event (December 9)

U.S. Defense Attaché to Georgia, Colonel Stephanie Bagley, was invited to share her experience at the Women in the Military Field Speakers event. During her speech, COL Bagley, who is the first female U.S. Defensé Attache to Georgia, spoke about challenges and opportunities for women in the military. She underlined the special role of trailblazers who came before her to pave the way for women in the military. Women now make up 20 percent of the U.S. Military Academy, and they continually graduate at the top of the class, earning scholarships for master’s degrees around the world.

One of the challenges women face in the military field is having to prove themselves in every job, as well as balance their career and family. COL Bagley’s advice was to seek self-improvement in areas where one can improve and let go of the rest. And for the balance between career and family, she underlined the importance of the support system of loved ones and friends.

Along with the challenges military service brings incredible opportunities to be able to serve around the world, receive high-level education and prove yourself as a leader.
