DCM Elizabeth Rood’s Remarks to Media at 23rd Battalion Redeployment (November 10)

Q-n about the event

DCM Elizabeth Rood:  It is an honor and our privilege to join the Minister of Defense in welcoming back home to Georgia from the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan the brave Georgian soldiers of the 23rd Battalion.  Georgian soldiers are distinguished throughout the world and among our partners for their bravery, their dedication, their self-sacrifice, and their valor, and we very much honor the service they’ve extended.  The American people are very grateful for the contribution Georgian soldiers are making to global and regional security.  The 23rd Battalion’s service was not without sacrifice; this battalion suffered eight wounded, one of whom has been in serious condition and one member of this battalion made the ultimate sacrifice to this mission and to this country.  Once again, we honor their service and we thank Georgia for its partnership.
