Today Deputy Chief of Mission Elizabeth Rood and Defense Attache Col. Stephanie Bagley visited a newly renovated health clinic in the village of Lamiskana. Together with Zaza Maridashvili, Deputy Mayor of Kaspi Municipality, Kaspi Sakrebulo Head Davit Leonidze, and Clinic Director Dr. Zurab Jalabadze they discussed the important role this clinic plays in ensuring the health of the community. The Lamiskana clinic provides preventative health services including vaccinations to residents of Lamiskana and Khviti, within a few kilometers of the Administrative Boundary Line and Odzisi crossing point. Each month, about 90 people come to the clinic for services. The U.S. Embassy and an American charity, Spirit of America, funded the repair project to support this vulnerable community. DCM Rood presented Georgian language books from U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Section for families to read in the waiting room of the clinic.
