On Saturday, December 12th, Defense Attaché Colonel Stephanie Bagley spoke at the Conference on Women, Peace, and Security,  which brought together prominent field professionals and aspiring students, as well as recent graduates to discuss the implications of the UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325, reaffirm women’s indispensable inclusion in the defense sector, and discuss the future implications of the Resolution.

The conference gave professionals a floor to highlight their contributions to women’s increased involvement in the field of peace and security, and at the same time, allowed students to express their opinions about women’s inclusion in the defense sector (touching on both civilian and military aspects).

During her speech on women in military, Col. Bagley remarked:  “If not you, then who?” We absolutely need women – strong, competent, brave women — in the military and in defense and security. Women bring unique perspectives, leadership and organizational styles, empathy in leadership, and emotional intelligence.”
