Event: The Embassy is monitoring an ongoing protest outside of the European Union building and the new Hilton Garden Inn located on Chavchavadze Avenue in the Vake neighborhood of Tbilisi. In the last week there have been violent confrontations among supporters of various political parties. The Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that large crowds are unpredictable and confrontations and violence among event attendees, counterdemonstrators, and police can occur without warning.
U.S. government personnel are advised to exercise caution when traveling downtown and avoid the gathering.
