Distinguished Visitor Day in Skra (May 28)


On May 28, EUCOM ODC BAO MAJ Colin Thompson, NATO Liaison Office representatives and diplomats from several supporting countries surveyed clearance progress at the Skra ammunition bunker site near Gori. Georgian Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Soldiers and State Military-Scientific Technical Center “DELTA” technicians are clearing the area of dangerous munitions resulting from Russian destruction of aDSC_0022n ammunition bunker during the 2008 Georgia-Russia conflict.  This project is supported by NATO Trust Fund Georgia IV, led by Lithuania and Czech Republic with contributions from 12 other NATO countries totaling € 1.2 M. The United States has contributed over $400,000 in cash and $175,000 in equipment grants as well as providing expert EOD Level 1 and first responder medical training and reference materials for the Georgian soldiers.
