Georgia Army National Guard Soldiers in Tbilisi for Family Readiness Group seminar (April 6 – 8)

baIn collaboration with The United States European Command, State Partnership Program Georgia National Guard and the United States Embassy, Tbilisi, Georgia, Army National Guard Soldiers Chaplain Leslie Nelson and Command Sergeant Major Callie Leaver visited Tbilisi April 6-8, 2015 to conduct a three day Family Readiness information exchange. The seminar was held for representatives of four different agencies of the Georgian Ministry of Defense in order to strengthen the Georgian Family Readiness program, especially for the treatment and reintegration of Wounded Warriors and their families. Topics discussed during seminar included how the Georgia National Guard runs its Family programs, their proactive approach to enhancing the quality of life, self-reliance and how to improve resiliency of Service Members and their families. These efforts include Family Readiness Groups (Mutual Support), Resiliency Training, Suicide Prevention Training, Communication Training, Financial Management Skills, and Military
Youth Training. Also discussed was the volunteerism cycle (Recruit, Retain and Recognize) and how it could be adapted for use in Georgia. This information exchange allowed the Georgian Armed Forces cross-organizational collaboration and understanding in support of the development of Georgian Family Support Programs.
