Georgian helicopter technicians’ familiarization visit to Clay National Guard Center (September 26)


Georgian Air Force Technicians are back from their Familiarization visit in the State of Georgia, US. The event was funded by US EUCOM enabling LTC Mirian Miruashvili, CPT Mickeil Chocheli, CPT Tornike Mchedlishvili and SGT Mamuka Sharvadze to spend seven days (19-26 September) at Clay National Guard Center (CNGC) in Atlanta Georgia, where they have become familiar with maintenance phases, production and quality control, and other aspects of helicopter maintenance operations done by Georgia Army National Guard (GA ARNG) technicians. Facility Commander, LTC Barry Simmons, MAJ Ernest Polk, CW5 Grady Wood, and other officers provided facility tour to their Georgian counterparts, briefed them on current maintenance programs and provided recommendations for modifications to Georgian maintenance program.

This familiarization event will help Georgian technicians to improve Georgian helicopter maintenance program allowing Georgian Armed Forces to take part in US/NATO utility helicopter operations.

US EUCOM continues providing essential support to Georgian Armed Forces to make it more NATO compatible and deployable for international peacekeeping missions.
