Georgian soldiers awarded in Afghanistan (February 11)

afghAn award ceremony for the military servicemen of the 51st Battalion was held at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Colonel Mamuka Kavtaradze, Senior Military Representative of Georgia to Afghanistan awarded Georgian soldiers participating in “Resolute Support” mission with service medals.

Three soldiers of the 51st Battalion received medals “Devotion to Homeland” for their service in strengthening defense capabilities.

U.S. marines received awards as well. Two Georgian Liaison Team marines of XIV rotation of the Georgian training program were awarded by “General Mazniashvili” medals for their contribution to improving U.S.-Georgian military cooperation.

Leadership of coalition forces attended the award ceremony together with the Georgian commanders.

The 51st Battalion of V Infantry Brigade of the GAF is carrying out a full spectrum of operations together with U.S. marines in Afghanistan. Their main task is to provide security of Bagram Air Base.
