The INL has successfully wrapped up a comprehensive series of basic and advanced training sessions on domestic and gender-based violence investigations. The trainings were held in Batumi and Tbilisi, where expert instructors from the Illinois State Police shared their knowledge and experience with the participants. The classes were engaging and interactive, with practical exercises that helped the attendees hone their skills in interviewing victims of DV/GBV violence using a victim-centric and trauma-informed approach.
The attendees of the trainings included patrol police, criminal police investigators, victim and witness advocates, and MOIA Academy instructors. At the end of each session, participants were awarded certificates to acknowledge their completion of the course. This initiative by INL is a significant step towards building the capacities of law enforcement agencies in Georgia and creating a more supportive environment for the victims of DV/GBV.
