Did you know that before their deployment to Afghanistan, Georgian soldiers train with U.S. Marines for months in Georgia? Today approximately 600 Georgian soldiers and 50 U.S. Marines are beginning their culminating exercise before deployment. The U.S. Marines remained in Georgia throughout the response to the COVID-19 pandemic as preparations for this exercise continued. This Certification Exercise which is hosted by Georgian Defense Forces is especially noteworthy because it means that our Georgian partners have stepped into the lead for planning and execution.
