Ambassador Kelly’s remarks to media at the Joint Maritime Operations Center (JMOC) (October 13)

Ambassador Kelly:  I want to thank the Ministry for inviting me here today and for arranging this very informative briefing.  This is a very impressive facility and I’m very proud that the United States of America funded the construction of it.  I’m also very impressed with how the Georgian Government has really taken charge and has created a real model of interagency cooperation here and information sharing, and this is yet another example of how Georgia has become a leader in the region.  And this is particularly important at a time when there are growing concerns about Black Sea security.  In fact, I just came from a conference yesterday in Batumi where I participated in a panel on Black Sea security.  I think Georgians should feel both proud and safer because of this facility.
