IMPORTANT: If you are a U.S. citizen currently in Georgia and are trying to get to the United States, please contact the embassy now.
All U.S. citizens in Georgia: These are uncertain times, and the world is facing unprecedented challenges. Your safety and welfare are our highest priorities. Please (please) enroll in our Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) so you will receive emails from the embassy and we will be able to contact you in an emergency.
On March 31, the Department of State updated the Global Level 4 Health Advisory to emphasize that although we are making every effort to assist U.S. citizens overseas who wish to return to the United States, as the COVID-19 situation develops, our ability to provide such assistance working with commercial airlines or arrange for evacuation flights may become more limited or even unavailable. Therefore, if you wish to return to the United States, you should make arrangement to do so now and contact the U.S. Embassy for assistance as needed. There is no guarantee that the Department of State will be able to continue to provide repatriation assistance and transportation options to the U.S. may be unavailable in the future. If you choose to remain overseas, you should be prepared to remain where you are for the foreseeable future.
As of today, April 3, the U.S. Embassy is aware of the following planned commercial flights leaving Georgia on the dates below. This schedule may change. Please contact Georgian Airways or a travel agent directly to book these flights. These are not U.S. government-operated or funded flights. At this time these flights are the only known way to leave Georgia. If you cannot afford to purchase a ticket on these flights, contact the embassy for information about financial assistance options.

Read this information for U.S. Citizens Returning from Europe (scroll about halfway down the page) regarding where U.S. citizens are allowed to transit en route to the United States. Note that flights from Europe are only being permitted to fly into 13 specific airports in the United States, as detailed on the Department of Homeland Security’s website, so you will need to plan your travel route accordingly.
We understand how difficult the current situation is, especially for those of you who are separated from your loved ones, trying to decide whether to stay in Georgia or trying to get home to the United States. We remain ready to assist U.S. citizens in Georgia however we can; please let us know what assistance you need!
Before You Go: Coronavirus Stimulus Payments
We have received many questions about the stimulus checks that are part of the U.S. government’s economic relief package to offset the impacts of the coronavirus crisis. The Internal Revenue Service has a very helpful website with details about who is eligible, how and when payments will be sent, and what you may need to do. Visit IRS.gov/coronavirus for more information about this, as well as the extended tax filing deadline.
Sincerely,
