Chargé d’Affairés Alan Purcell participated in the U.S. Embassy-supported Millennium Innovations Award (MIA) 2023 Gala Ceremony. He toured innovative projects and prototypes created by 2023 MIA finalist teams, delivered opening remarks, and announced the winning team. MIA is a nationwide STEM competition which encourages youth in Georgia to think innovatively and connects winners with successful scientists and the business sector to promote partnership and knowledge sharing. The U.S. Embassy’s support of this program demonstrates our commitment to strengthening the STEM environment and innovation ecosystem in Georgia.
MIA is organized by the Millennium Foundation and around 3,000 students have participated in the competition since its launch in 2014. Each year, the winning team of the national competition takes part in the Space Center University program at NASA Houston Space Center. The second and third prize winners participate in international STEM programs sponsored by project partners. The program is implemented in partnership with project sponsors and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
