NATO Partner Georgia Observes NATO Allies UK and US Practice Live-Fire Exercises during Noble Partner 2016 (May 18)

On May 18 at the Vaziani Training Area outside of Tbilisi, members of Georgia’s Armed Forces who serve in NATO’s Response Force observed soldiers from the United Kingdom and United States practice live-fire infantry and tank drills.  Servicemen of the United Kingdom’s 3rd Battalion Rifles Regiment practiced infantry assaults in the morning; afterwards members of the United States’ 173rd Infantry Combat Brigade practiced movements and live-fire drills with Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles and M1 Abrams tanks.  This is the first time that M1 Abrams tanks have been deployed in Georgia for military exercises.  Noble Partner 2016 – comprising 1,300 Georgian, US, and UK troops – began on May 11 and officially concludes on May 24.
