On World Hepatitis Day we recognize the life-saving Hepatitis C Elimination program that has made a tremendous difference in the lives of thousands of Georgian citizens. Since 2015, the program has cured 52,075 patients, and because of the U.S.-Georgian public health partnership, these expensive treatments are being provided for free.
More than 74,000 individuals had initiated treatment for HCV with over 98% cured of the virus and the number of treatment centers has increased from four sites, located in Tbilisi to 35 centers throughout the country. This life-saving initiative is a wonderful demonstration of how a public-private partnership can tackle the world’s greatest public health challenges. If you would like to know more about this program and get enrolled, contact the Ministry of Health: https://www.facebook.com/mohgovge/
