US Ambassador Kelly Degnan Visits Synagogue in Akhaltsikhe

Georgia is justifiably proud of its long history of tolerance. The peaceful coexistence of Jews in Georgia over many years is the most remarkable illustration. We discovered this history in a 281-year-old synagogue in Akhaltsikhe. Our sincere gratitude goes out to Rabbi Simon Levishvili and his family, who have been caring for one of the oldest synagogues in Europe for 27 years.
