Event: This is election weekend in Georgia. The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens to exercise caution and stay observant to possible large crowds of people that may appear to be gathering or protesting. Georgia has a history of unplanned spontaneous protests which can include violence related to elections. Particular locations throughout Tbilisi, such as Rustaveli Avenue, Parliament, and other government buildings, have a history of being the focal point for these events.
