Senior US State Department European Affairs Official Speaks at NATO-Georgia Public Diplomacy Forum (April 4)

During his current visitdasj1 to Georgia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasia Affairs Benjamin Ziff spoke on a panel of Georgian and international experts at the NATO-Georgia Public Diplomacy Forum on April 4 in Tbilisi.  The theme of the forum, which kicks off NATO Week activities in Georgia this year, was dedicated to the importance of strategic communications in combatting disinformation and propaganda in the region.  Deputy Assistant Secretary Ziff emphasized the importance of exposing disinformation with facts and the truth, and said supporting free and independent media, taking a whole-of-government approach in government communications, and being proactive in information dissemination were all critical means to counter disinformation and propaganda.
