Strengthening Roadway Safety: A U.S. Study Visit for Georgian Police Officials

The U.S. Embassy and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) facilitated a week-long study visit to the United States for four Patrol Police Department officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MOIA) and one MOIA Analytical Department representative to learn about U.S. best practices in traffic enforcement.  The delegation met with Illinois State Police (ISP) and Denver Police Department (DPD) representatives and explored practices aimed at improving roadway safety, compliance with traffic regulations, and reducing traffic crashes that result in serious bodily injury or death, as well as using data to inform police operations.  INL will continue to support the Ministry’s efforts to improve roadway safety in Georgia and reduce the number of traffic crashes that result in serious injuries or fatalities.
