U.S. Congressional Delegation to Visit Georgia (April 15)
TBILISI, April 15 – A bipartisan delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives will visit Georgia from April 15 – 17, 2019 as part of the House Democracy Partnership (HDP). The HDP is a bipartisan, twenty-member commission of the U.S. House of Representatives that works directly with partner countries around the world to support the development of effective, independent, and responsive legislative institutions. The delegation will be led by HDP Chairman, Congressman David Price (Democrat-North Carolina ) and includes Co-Chair, Congressman Vern Buchanan (Republican-Florida), Congresswoman Dina Titus (Democrat-Nevada), Congressman Michael Conaway (Republican-Texas), Congressman Gerry Connolly (Democrat-Virginia), Congressman Adrian Smith (Republican- Nebraska), Congresswoman Barbara Lee (Democrat-California), and Congresswoman Terri Sewell (Democrat –Alabama). The HDP and the Parliament of Georgia have been working together since 2006. This visit marks the 8th trip by Commission members to Georgia.
While in Georgia, the delegation will meet with legislative counterparts to discuss legislative methods, challenges, and current issues. Additionally, the delegation will examine governance issues and factors influencing good governance, including security, stability, and national defense.
