U.S. Congressional Delegation to Visit Georgia (February 24)
TBILISI, February 24 – A bipartisan delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives will visit Georgia from February 24 – 26, 2017 as part of the House Democracy Partnership (HDP). The HDP is a bipartisan, twenty-member commission of the U.S. House of Representatives that works directly with partner countries around the world to support the development of effective, independent, and responsive legislative institutions. The delegation will be led by HDP Chairman, Congressman Peter Roskam (Republican-Illinois) and includes Ranking Member Congressman David Price (Democrat-North Carolina), Congresswoman Gwen Moore (Democrat-Wisconsin), Congressman Adrian Smith (Republican-Nebraska), and Congressman Gerry Connolly (Democrat-Virginia). The House Democracy Partnership and the Parliament of Georgia have been working together since 2006. This trip marks the 7th visit by Commission members to Georgia.
While in Georgia, the delegation will meet with legislative counterparts to discuss legislative methods, challenges, and current issues. Additionally, the delegation will examine factors influencing good governance, including security, stability, and national defense.
