U.S. Embassy Earth Day Celebration (April 20)

TBILISI, April 20, 2016 – Chargé d’Affaires Elizabeth Rood and Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze will celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 13:00, at a U.S. Embassy event at Autotest Georgien (127 Tbilisi – Senaki Highway).  The theme of this year’s Earth Day celebration is clean air.

Chargé Rood and Mayor Khaladze will demonstrate the importance of clean air by having their cars tested for CO2 emissions.  Emissions testing is a necessary step in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration, and the U.S. Embassy fully supports Georgia’s transition to mandatory emissions testing for all vehicles.

The event will also feature a show of high-end electric cars, including a Tesla Model X SUV, in cooperation with Bioli Medical Wellness Resort.

Additionally, alumni of the U.S. Embassy’s FLEX exchange program have adopted roads near the U.S. Embassy as part of CENN’s Keep Georgia Beautiful Campaign.  Chargé Rood and Mayor Kaladze will join the FLEX alumni and other Embassy personnel in cleaning up the road immediately following the emissions testing.  The alumni have committed to keeping this road clean over the next two years.
