U.S. Embassy facilitates Chief Prosecutor Shotadze’s visit to U.S. (May 13)

shotadzeOn May 9-13, the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Irakli Shotadze conducted an official visit to the United States. The Chief Prosecutor’s delegation included Deputy Chief Prosecutor Giorgi Gogadze and the Tbilisi Chief Prosecutor Mikheil Shakulashvili.  U.S. Embassy Resident Legal Advisor Mike Grant and Diplomatic Security Service Special Agent Jason Pfistner acco
mpanied the delegation. During the visit Chief Prosecutor Shotadze met with the Deputy Attorney General, FBI Director, US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Assistant Secretarshotadze1y for Diplomatic Security, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, and other Department of Justice and State Department offices. The meetings focused on prosecutorial reform, the importance of continued training assistance, and bilateral cooperation.

By facilitating the visit by the Chief Prosecutor’s delegation, the U.S. Embassy aimed to strengthen the U.S.-Georgia partnership on law enforcement and justice sector reform.
