U.S.-Georgia Defense Readiness Program Training Element Launch (May 18)

On May 17 and 18, Commander, U.S. European Command (EUCOM), General Curtis M. Scaparrotti visited Georgia to formally recognize the start of the Georgia Defense Readiness Program(GDRP).  General Scaparrotti also with senior Georgian leaders to reaffirm the U.S.’ commitment to Georgia’s sovereignty and aspirations to become a member of NATO. The GDRP ceremony was held atthe Georgian Armed Forces Vaziani Military base May 18.  “Bilateral programs such as the GDRP demonstrate that proven partnerships are built upon shared values, experiences and visions,” Scaparrotti said.  “This GDRP training program contributes to the security of the Black Sea region, and thus, the stability of the greater European security environment.”
