“We admire the efforts of Georgia’s emergency response personnel. They are working as heroes to extinguish the fire in Borjomi.
We understand well the unique beauty and importance of the Borjomi National Forest. We want to help in this effort. Today, at the request of the Emergency Management Agency, we are donating 500 pairs of specialized boots. This contribution is worth 65,000 GEL, and it will help keep the firefighters safe and assist in their efforts. Earlier, we donated a large amount of firefighting equipment to the agency, which is already helping fight the blaze. The U.S. Embassy is prepared to assist in rehabilitation efforts after the blaze has been contained. We will also continue our long-term technical assistance for emergency management. We stand with the people of Georgia.” – Deputy Chief of Mission Elizabeth Rood
