This week, US Naval Forces Europe and US Naval Information Warfare Center-Pacific conducted an assessment of the two dive teams under operational control of Regional Operations-Poti and Regional Operations-Batumi, Coast Guard Department, Border Police of Georgia, in order to enhance maritime interoperability and border defense. The visit included initial evaluation of the Georgian Coast Guard Department’s dive lockers, medical procedures, and maintenance capabilities, providing critical insight into the Coast Guard’s priorities and policies for future program development. In collaboration with the Office of Defense Cooperation, U.S. Embassy Georgia, the U.S. Navy assessment will assist Georgia to execute its maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, and port security responsibilities.
